so last month i was listening to my ipod on shuffle and unlike usual i actually listened to the songs instead of skipping to the next one every 15 seconds. while doing this, i heard a lot of songs that i hadn’t listened to in what felt like forever but was probably only a month or two. and as corny as this sounds my appreciation for those songs grew. this got me thinkin. now i listen to paramore every single day. the longest time i’ve gone without listening to them (or any music at all) was for a week and it was for a school project. it was a torturous week. i don’t wanna talk about it. anyway i thought that if i went a month without listening to paramore my appreciation for them would grow as well. but then i thought for a little bit longer and realized that if i went a month without their music i would probably go insane. literally. so instead i decided to choose one song from each of their albums to go without for a month. i started in september and the forbidden songs for that month were “here we go again”- ‘all we know is falling’, “crushcrushcrush” - ‘RIOT!’, and “brick by boring brick” - ‘brand new eyes’. and i’m happy to report that my mission was successful and when i listened to those songs again (at midnight on october 1st haha) my appreciation for them did in fact grow. this month i chose “my heart”, “for a pessimist i’m pretty optimistic”, and “feeling sorry”. anyway the point of this painfully long post is to get you to try it. pick your favorite song/s or songs from your favorite band/singer and don’t listen to them for a month. then see if you love them even more when you go back and listen to them.
